New CD...EP!

Polka! Polka! Polka!

(the extended single)(c)(p) One-Hand-Clapping Music 2005, 2013

...a five-track-single (???)...or maybe it should be called an 'EP'...hard to say.  The title track, of course, is an "extended" version of Poor Yorick's 2005 yodeling romp...no profanity whatsoever, ..honest!.. though we would have to acknowledge some implicit, not exactly subtle, dare we say adolescent-like lyrical content....innuendo anyone?..how naughty!...and we don't want any notes home from school do we?..so mothers be warned!  But surely we just want to celebrate eastern European folk dancing tradition...right? The CD also features a few extras including four newer 'B-sides'... for those of us who remember such things.

Track list:

*Polka! Polka! Polka! (extended single)

*Kaboom Kaboom

*One More Day

*Happy Birthday My Dear

*Polka! Polka! Polka!(alternative mix)

Come see us an get your copy on Friday, August 2nd!

Also...downloads of the individual tracks are (will be) avaialble on REVERBNATION...only $1.29 with half the proceeds going to 'Love, Hope, Strength', a cancer treatment funding source for those with no other options.

On the Drums!... a milestone!

We couldn't let this Summer get past us without noting that we've hit a milestone!  The boys down at the PY head office got the slide rules out and confirmed it....

TRISH REIS has been with
POOR YORICK  for
10 YEARS!

It was the summer of 2003 when Trish threw in with PY and started rehearsing some of the band's older material.  Since then she's contributed to four album projects, a handful of singles, as well as making countless live appearances with this goofy group....and it is plenty goofy.

Anyone who has heard us over the last decade can tell ya...Trish has got the "chops".  She makes us sound better by just being back there, holding down the beat.  Doesn't seem to matter if it's Jazz, Salsa, Bassa- Nova, Swing, Blues, Swing, a Waltz, Reggae (stay tuned) or straight-four-in-the-bar Rock & Roll,..Trish drives it.  For instance, check out her recent syncopated, "single-take" style on our latest single/EP,
"Kaboom Kaboom"

Hard to recall what we were like without her, so...
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TRISH!

Focus on the Keys..."Lost" John Casner

It was, we think, 1988 when John Casner walked into the middle of us.  More than content to continue to perform with his various Country/Texas-Swing bands, not the least of which being THE AUSTIN ROADHOUSE BAND in the early 80’s, John was hardly looking to align himself with such a bunch of rag-tag-rock-n-roll-goofballs.  But at the time he did generously offer the band the use of his studio and the recording equipment therein; all the while consistently stating that he had no interest in being “in the band”, but would gladly contribute keyboard parts as needed…not to mention the occasional vocal here and there.

Of course, he didn’t see it coming.

Despite his best efforts at escaping the PY gravitational pull, his piano and organ work gradually became an integral part of the Poor Yorick sound. It’s not hard to hear the influence and presence…give a listen to the infectious piano riff on “Let’s All Be Normal“ (1992);  or the smooth, left-bank-evoking accordion work on “I Might Be Wrong” (2012); or, of course, his signature vocals onEllie May” (2012)…just a small sample of John's skill to be sure.

So, ladies and gentlemen, though he may have cringed at the idea at one time in the early days…(and perhaps occasionally still does), a round of applause, if you please, for Poor Yorick’s very own…

 “Lost” John Casner!

OH!...be sure to check out John's official website!
